Congressional Candidate Paul Partyka Fights for Space Coast Jobs at Brevard Rally of 3,000, Incumbent a No-Show
WINTER SPRINGS, Fla. (March 3, 2010) --- Paul Partyka, Democratic candidate for Florida’s District 24 Congressional seat, stood with an estimated 3,000 participants at the Save Our Space (SOS) Jobs Rally in Titusville Feb. 27. Noticeably absent was Partyka’s Democratic opponent.
“The biggest challenge Americans face today is to get the American economy back on track and American workers back to work,” Partyka said. “The Save Our Space Jobs rally was a well-publicized, well-coordinated effort of the entire Brevard community, and the absence of the incumbent is one more indication of the lack of representation we have endured for too long,” said Partyka, the sole Democratic challenger for the congressional seat.
The SOS Jobs rally drew the support of Chamber of Commerce, local businesses, community leaders and Space Coast workers, and state and national union leaders, Partyka said.
“Even Miss Florida was there, a UCF graduate with a degree in Electrical Engineering. But the incumbent was a no-show.”
Partyka said he was deeply moved by the demonstration of community support and wholeheartedly backs the SOS rallying cry that was repeated many times: “Our family is worth fighting for, our community is worth fighting for, and our jobs are worth fighting for,” Partyka said.
“Americans are fed up with representatives who go off to Washington and forget who elected them and why,” Partyka said.
Partyka has made jobs and the national economy the focal point of his campaign to defeat the incumbent in the Democratic primary election on Aug. 24.
“Congress must focus our resources on sustainable job-creation programs such as business incubators and technology, including the Space program and alternative energy development,” Partyka said. “Our stimulus efforts ought to focus on small business, America’s job creation engine. We need to retrain workers left high and dry by the economic downturn, and we must lower our annual deficit and pay down the national debt,” Partyka said.
In the meantime, Partyka said he plans to fight for more jobs in Central Florida. “Jobs must be the top priority of everyone in this community,” Partyka said, “including the incumbent.”
